My journey with anxiety

My-Journey-with-anxiety.jpg

I want to get a little vulnerable with you and share two defining moments with my anxiety and the nudge that I needed to make a big change!

The first was in 2014 and I was at my office job and I had a few challenges at work. It was just before starting doTERRA and I was **desperate** to quit my job to be home more with the kids. I was completely burnt out and had an anxiety attack. I wasn't really sure what was happening. I actually thought it was a heart attack and I took myself into the emergency department.

It was then I knew things had to change and I started looking into doTERRA and wanted to create a way to work from home and create lifestyle freedom.

The second was last year. The kids weren't thriving on the Sunshine Coast, I was feeling pretty flat in my business, we didn't come home for Christmas. I was already feeling pretty home sick and then COVID-19 hit. Me + anxiety + homeschooling do NOT mix. I was really struggling.

We decided we should move back home for the kids and to be honest, for my mental health and support. This move was one of the most difficult decisions, but I know it's what we all needed. The kids are thriving here. My mental health is way better and I'm loving my business more than ever.

I still get anxiety. It still shows up for me a few times a week, mostly towards the end of my cycle.

But I have some great support strategies that get me through. Here's how:

  • Breathing & meditation. Sometimes I just need to completely switch off and just breath. I also love listening to the calm app guided meditations.

  • My supplements: lifelong vitality, adaptiv capsules & beef liver capsules.

  • I walk daily and LOVE my monthly hiking group.

  • I have monthly acupuncture and chiropractor appointments.

  • Use my essential oils eveeeryday.

The Adaptiv blend is my #1 go to oil for overwhelm, but I have a few others that I reach for also. Here is a post with some other oils I use for overwhelm.

Its estimated 45% of people will have a mental health condition in their lifetime here in Australia. I'm one of those people.

I am so grateful I have my oils to support me. Sometimes just the ritual of choosing a blend and turning on my diffuser and some soft tunes is enough to calm my nerves, sometime it takes a bit extra.

Take care.
